Who should attend?
This is a beginners course for practice staff who will maintain the practice IT systems. Practice staff who run reports on practice data and who file non-patient documents. Clinicians are not needed on this course.
Delegates need to have an understanding of how Docman Operates.
On completion of this course you will be competent in carrying out Docman reporting, maintenance, system back-ups and electronic document checks.
Objectives
By the end of the course the delegates will be able to:
- Scan, file and retrieve non-patient documents
- Run reports on Docman data
- Maintain documents (correct mis-filed data)
- Build filing lists
- Check daily back-up
- Install software updates

Course Details
Onsite Training – This full-day hands-on course runs from 10:00 until 16:00. A maximum of 6 delegates per onsite course unless a projector is available in a suitable room.
Seminar Training – This course is also available as a seminar. Seminar style offers a range of benefits, as practices can bounce ideas around and your full attention is gained by being away from the practice. There is also a significant cost saving.

Course Content
Non-Patient Filing
This session will cover the area of Docman that can be used for filing and viewing non-patient documents. This may include documentation from PCTs, clinical providers, internal guidelines and protocols.
Document Maintenance
This session will cover the maintenance of documents filed using Docman. This will include topics such as editing document descriptions, deleting documents, moving documents between patients. This should be attended by staff you wish to give such access.
Docman/System Maintenance
This session will cover the administration and maintenance of Docman. This will include topics such as adding new users or changing users access rights, building lists of hospitals / departments, checking the daily backup and installing software updates.
Reporting
This session will cover the reporting functionality within Docman. This can be used to create custom reports. Examples of this include reports of how many documents you receive from a certain hospital / provider, or how many documents arrive from a certain department by various hospitals. Reports can also be created by filtering patient information such as sex and age ranges.
